The Institute has promoted eight editions of this important award event.

WORLD ECOTOUR – Ecotourism and Sustainable Tourism

The action encourages the adoption of judicious procedure for environmental protection targets and results in the presentation of technical papers focused on issues of Ecotourism and Sustainable Tourism. These works are published as papers in the Congress Annals. The seminar already had four editions, involving delegations from 38 countries, including representatives of the World Tourism Organization and the World Ecotourism Society.

ECOURBS – Urban Environmental Problems

The event, held annually, has technical agenda focused on conferences, round tables and also on the exhibition of technologies, products and environmental services. The debate is centered on the discussion of responsible urban planning and involves solutions on: environmental sanitation, collection and disposal of solid waste (garbage), sewage (domestic and industrial), containment and slope protection, pollution (water, air, soil and water table), use of alternative sources of energy, gas emissions and noise pollution, among other topics of interest. The main goals of the agenda are to discuss how all these changes affect the health of the population and how to build solutions to achieve a better quality of life.

Binational Seminars on Urban Sustainability

In order to present, discuss and visit successful models of urban sustainability, the Biosphere Global Institute promotes every two years, alternately in Portugal and Spain, the achievement of Binational Seminar on Urban Sustainability. We have made ten editions in partnership with Portuguese cities and four editions in Spanish cities. For each seminar is prepared a program covering conferences, round tables and technical visits, focusing on the areas of environment, urban planning, housing, transport, social welfare, education, health and sustainable tourism. The target audiences of the seminar are mainly mayors, vice mayors, municipal secretaries, parliamentarians and Brazilian companies interested in knowing the progress made in public administration at European cities. The aim is to promote the application of good practices in Brazilian municipalities.

National seminar of Environmental sanitation

The event focuses on the progress made in the environmental sanitation area in Brazil and abroad. They are lectures and workshops that discuss problems, solutions and successful projects being implemented in the sector. The discussion is focused on public policies to face the social inequality rates and the negative impact that they have on health and the environment. At the same time, round tables with experts are scheduled to discuss the challenges of environmental sanitation at present, such as access to piped drinking water, treatment of sewage, collection and disposal of solid waste (garbage), the conversion of waste into energy and the planning and management of landfills.

FOREST – International Congress on Forest Conservation
