Associate Professor of the Department of Sanitary Engineering and Environment (DESMA) of the University of the State of Rio de Janeiro (UERJ). Coordinator of the postgraduate course in Environmental Engineering at UERJ.

Marcia Gomes holds a degree in Biology and a PhD in Chemical Engineering (KTH Royal Institute of Technology in Stockholm, Sweden). She has experience in Environmental and Ecological Engineering with emphasis on water and soil quality and pollution treatment including: bioremediation and phytoremediation of contaminated soils with petroleum and its derivatives, advanced oxidative processes and sorting processes in the treatment of wastewater, ecotechnologies in the decentralized treatment of domestic sewage and rainwater, endocrine disruptors in ETAs, TEEs and aquatic ecosystems, ecotoxicological evaluation and ecological risk assessment. She has a PhD in Chemical Engineering (KTH Royal Institute of Technology in Stockholm, Sweden).
